NOSE SURGERY
Of all plastic surgery procedures, nose enhancement, or
rhinoplasty, is among the most
common. Nose enhancement can be
performed on any part of the nose to increase or reduce its
size; to modify the size and shape of the nostrils, tip or
bridge of the nose; or to alter the slope or angle of the nose.
Rhinoplasty may also be performed to correct an injury or birth
defect, or to improve breathing.
Dr. Harris is trained in ear,
nose and throat, and facial cosmetic surgery, which provides you
with the highest level of training and expertise.
Dr. Harris
performs rhinoplasty under local or general
anesthesia depending on the complexity of the operation and the
patient’s wishes. In most cases, he uses an open rhinoplasty
approach to lift the skin of the nose. This method allows for
excellent exposure and access to the underlying nasal cartilage
and bones. Following surgery some discomfort can be expected,
but can be alleviated with cold compresses and medication
prescribed by
Dr. Harris. You can usually return to work or
non-strenuous activities within a week or two. Strenuous
activities may be resumed within a few weeks.
ETHNIC RHINOPLASTY
Patients with skin of color typically complain of excessive
nasal width, a flat/low bridge, and lack of tip definition. Most
importantly, rhinoplasty patients want to continue to look like
themselves after the operation. It is important for patients to
make sure that the surgeon’s aesthetic sensibility is consistent
with their own ideas of ethnic harmony and identity.
Dr. Harris has performed rhinoplasty (nose surgery
enhancements) on individuals in
Washington, DC,
Chevy Chase, Maryland,

throughout the country and is consulted by many physicians on
his technique for achieving a more enhanced nose.
